Periodically chilled, alien frequencies freeze to hold momentary concurrences. Quickly dissipating phantom voices emerge and transform into a collage of accelerated melodies, bashed apart by vague pulses and distant percussion. Obfuscating but also very clear, this recording provides a masterful display of technique and vision, requiring the listener to revisit often in order to remember they are no longer the same.

Ex Continent is the primary moniker for Barcelona based artist Arnau Sala Saez. Ex Con’s earlier work displays a meticulous grasp on sound design applied to techno-analogous and rhythm focused compositions. In more recent years Saez has applied the same precise control to further abstracted, sonic architecture. “SDSDS03” was recorded live in May 2022, composed for an installation event at Hangar in Barcelona.

With various releases across labels such as Opal Tapes, Hospital Productions, Anathema Archive, and others… Ex Continent continues to lay a unique and highly relevant impact across the global experimental music communities. In addition to his work as Ex Continent, and under his own name, Arnau Sala Saez is the owner and curator of Anòmia Productions. Since 2012 Anòmia has been an indispensable label producing sound, visual, and editorial projects along with live actions and radio shows, uplifting some of the most creative independent artists.
